In a Central Florida summer, an air conditioner pulls gallons of water out of the air every day, and all of it has to drain away. When algae and debris build up in the condensate line, that water backs up. Many systems have a float switch that shuts the AC off to prevent a leak, so the first sign is often a warm house on a hot afternoon, or water around the indoor unit.
On a call like this, we find where the line is blocked, clear it with a wet vac and a flush, check the drain pan and float switch, and confirm the system restarts and drains properly. If the line keeps clogging, we talk through options like adding a cleanout access point or a regular drain treatment.
It's usually a quick fix, and it's one of the things we check at every tune-up in the Preventive Maintenance Program, so it gets caught before it shuts the system down.
